Abstract

The effect of an active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) is strongly influenced by its solubility. Therefore poor aqueous solubility is a main problem in development, especially because it occurs at about 40 % of new developed APIs.[1] A promising approach to improve the applicability of those APIs is the solid dispersion. Within this work the manufacturing and the product properties of amorphous solid dispersions (ASDs) are investigated.  

Description

The melt method and the solvent method are well known approaches to manufacture ASD. These approaches are represented by the most common type as hot melt extrusion represents the melt method and spray drying represents the solvent method. As a third manufacturing technique single pot processing is used.

The products are investigated to get a better understanding of the influences of manufacturing techniques.

This work is a cooperation of INVITE GmbH and TU Dortmund within the frame of the consortium DDIC.
