Project

In the presence of cytosolic DNA, the enzyme cyclic GMP-AMP synthase (cGAS) catalyzes the synthesis of the second messenger 2'3'-cyclic GMP-AMP (cGAMP) [1]. The cyclic dinucleotide cGAMP is currently of great interest in the pharmaceutical industry as it can activate the innate immune system [2]. Possible applications include the immunotherapy of cancer or the use as an adjuvant in vaccines [3].
The objective of this project is the development of an enzymatic process for the production of relevant cyclic dinucleotides.
